Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Chub. at 5.0 against Political Button Machine's 4.3. Political Button Machine's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 1) and ads (none vs shown). On price, ratings volume, update cadence and device support there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Chub. sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Political Button Machine asks for nothing beyond the download.
Chub. holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 8 and 4 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 80% of Political Button Machine's written reviews are positive against 67% of Chub.'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Political Button Machine ships an update every 3 weeks, Chub. fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
