Users can get information on crashes, congestion, construction, closures, and much more on Florida’s interstates, toll roads, and other major roadways. When there is a traffic incident to report, FL511 Mobile App will announce it, making sure users don’t need to take their eyes and attention off the road. A new safety feature in Florida 511 allows users to receive announcements about school zones, the presence of pedestrians, emergency vehicles, and red traffic lights when available. IMPORTANT – This application is intended to be used before the driver starts their trip. By downloading this Application, the user agrees to use the Application responsibly and to avoid any interaction with mobile devices while driving a motor vehicle. In order to discourage distracted driving, FL511 does not support the use of cell and smartphones while operating a motor vehicle. FL511 is not liable for any crashes that may occur while operating your vehicle. Know before you go. The use of non-GPS Devices or disabling GPS for the Florida 511 planning tool will limit the functionality of the app. Travel smart with the FL511 Mobile App to Connect. Know. Go.

This version of EnLighten is part of a six-month study on the safety, efficiency, and environmental benefits of providing drivers with real-time information about traffic lights in their area. Coverage is only available in four study cities: Phoenix, AZ San José, CA Las Vegas, NV Portland, OR We establish a baseline of driving behavior before we begin to provide traffic light information to a driver. You must drive through 75 connected lights with the app open and in the foreground before you will see traffic light information. Using real-time signal information and position information from GPS and cell signals, EnLighten notices when drivers stop at a red light. It then uses Connected Signals' proprietary technology to predict when that light will change. If it can predict, it tells them. Then, just before the light turns green, a chime warns the driver to get ready. EnLighten currently works in selected cities, a list of which can be seen at: http://connectedsignals.com/live_cities/ More cities are being added as quickly as possible. Knowing how much time is available can keep drivers from starting distracting tasks shortly before a light changes and they need to drive. The chime that sounds shortly before the light changes also helps avoid situations where a car darts into an intersection after being honked at by another driver. Please be aware that continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. EnLighten minimizes use of GPS when you are not actively driving, or when you are not in a covered area. Send us questions and comments at: http://connectedsignals.com/contacting-us/
