Verdict
The clearest difference is ratings volume: Mocation at 66 against WanderMap's 3. Mocation also leads on review sentiment (80% vs 70%) and device support (3 vs 1). WanderMap's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Mocation sells 4 one-off in-app purchases and WanderMap sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
WanderMap holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mocation has 66 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 80% of Mocation's written reviews are positive against 70% of WanderMap's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Mocation ships an update every 2 months, WanderMap every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and September 28, 2026 respectively.
