Furiganify! is a lightweight extension for Safari that adds Furigana reading aids (Ruby characters) to Japanese text. All processing occurs on your device to ensure maximum privacy. Furiganify only reads the content from webpages you explicitly select. No data about the webpages you visit or their content ever leaves your device. Both Latin characters (Romaji) and Hiragana can be used. In addition, you can also chose to have furigana added only to Kanji characters beyond a certain school grade or JLPT level. This reduces clutter and serves as a great studying aid.

Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: 7 at 4.7 against Furiganify!'s 4.0. 7 also leads on ratings volume (309 vs 8) and update cadence (every 3 months vs every 11 months). Furiganify!'s advantage is review sentiment (72% vs 36%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
7 holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: 7 has 309 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 72% of Furiganify!'s written reviews are positive against 36% of 7's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Furiganify! ships an update every 11 months, 7 every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
