The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Areena Partner at none against ECNL's 1. Areena Partner also leads on rating (4.9 vs 4.6) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.0). Both are free to download. ECNL sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $3.99 per month. Areena Partner asks for nothing beyond the download.
Areena Partner holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ECNL has 5.8K ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 10% of ECNL's written reviews are positive against 0% of Areena Partner's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
ECNL ships an update every 4 weeks, Areena Partner fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
