Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: ECNL at none against Impressive Play's shown. ECNL also leads on ratings volume (5.8K vs 6) and update cadence (every 4 weeks vs every 2 months). Impressive Play's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.6). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ECNL sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $3.99 per month and Impressive Play sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $13.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Impressive Play holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ECNL has 5.8K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two.
ECNL ships an update every 4 weeks, Impressive Play every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
