Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Guitarians at 4.9 against SimpNote Lite's 4.4. Guitarians also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 3) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 18.6). SimpNote Lite's advantage is review sentiment (72% vs 44%) and update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 4 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SimpNote Lite sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Guitarians asks for nothing beyond the download.
Guitarians holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SimpNote Lite has 74 ratings behind it against 13, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 44% of Guitarians's written reviews are positive against 72% of SimpNote Lite's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Guitarians ships an update every 4 months, SimpNote Lite every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
