Fluent Numerals vs Kazoo

Fluent Numerals is designed to help you become a fluent listener AND speaker of numerals in a foreign language. Because knowing the names of numbers is invaluable in any language, Fluent Numerals is ideal for anyone interested in learning another language. Explore: The Explore tab is a playground for language enthusiasts. Fluent Numerals supports every language/region that has both speech synthesis and speech recognition. No need to get separate apps for different languages: with Fluent Numerals you can hear "1-2-3" in Swedish and then at the flip of a switch hear "123" in Japanese. And to find out if you can say "9" in German, just make another easy language change, hold down the record button, and speak into the mic. Challenges: Put your skills to the test with the challenges Fluent Numerals offers for both listening and speaking. In listening challenges, a speech synthesizer says a number or a series of digits and your goal is to enter the correct numbers using the keypad. In speaking challenges, your goal is to pronounce the number you see on the screen (either as the entire number or separate digits) well enough so that a speech recognizer for the language you selected will understand you. Just hold down the record button and speak into the mic. And unlike traditional "listen and repeat" lessons, Fluent Numerals gives you immediate feedback on your performance. Fluent Numerals is free to try and is initially limited to numbers of up to 3 digits using digits 1-5. If you find that Fluent Numerals helps you become more fluent with numerals, you can unlock the full version with an in-app purchase to access the entire range of numbers the app offers.

Counting in Japanese is one of the trickiest parts of the language — and most apps barely touch it. Kazoo is built entirely around helping you master it. Start with the basics: learn how Japanese numbers work from 1 to 10, 100, 1,000 and beyond. Then dive into the real challenge — the dozens of counter words (助数詞) that Japanese uses for different types of objects, people, animals, days, and more. Kazoo walks you through each counting category step by step: つ (tsu) — the general-purpose counter 日 (nichi/ka) — days and dates 匹 (hiki) — small animals 台 (dai) — machines and vehicles 人 (nin) — people 本 (hon) — long, thin objects …and many more Every category comes with built-in quizzes so you can test yourself as you go. Track your progress across all counters and see which ones you've nailed and which ones still need work. Whether you're a complete beginner just learning to count to ten, or an intermediate student who keeps mixing up いっぴき and さんびき, Kazoo gives you the focused practice that textbooks and general language apps skip over.
