Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Pixabay at 4.8 against Animated Text's 4.2. Pixabay also leads on ratings volume (1.6K vs 13). Animated Text's advantage is update cadence (every 6 days vs every 2 months) and iOS requirement (11.2 vs 16.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Pixabay holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pixabay has 1.6K ratings behind it against 13, so its average is the more settled of the two.
Pixabay ships an update every 2 months, Animated Text every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on October 15, 2026 and September 28, 2026 respectively.
