Echo Pitch pitch-shifting multi-delay for iPad and iPhone! Echo Pitch has 4 delays where each delayed signal can be pitched one octave up or down in 1/2 steps, and can function as a 4-voice harmonizer. Echo Pitch also has a built-in freeze loop, amp simulator and reverb. Each of the four delays can be routed into the other for incredible, swirling, ambient washes and otherworldly sounds. Echo Pitch works best with an iOS-compatible audio interface. Echo Pitch is also AUM/Audiobus compatible - as Inter-App Audio or Audio Unit. (Please note that the standalone/IAA version of Echo Pitch is now legacy. While the AU Echo Pitch has the same functionality, the pitch shifting is far superior. In addition, there are sonic differences between the Reverb, Master Delay EQ, Delay drives in the AU vs the Standalong/IAA version. But you get both updated AU and legacy IAA. Use whichever you prefer!) Brought to you by Avi Bortnick and Maximos Kaliakatsos-Papakostas.
GRDelay
This audio effect plugin creates unique sound textures by generating up to 16 stereo 'grains' from delayed input audio. It offers randomization of grain shape, delay time, and pitch-shifting for experimental sound design.
- Granular synthesis-based delay
- Up to 16 stereo grains
- Randomized grain shape and delay time
- Pitch-shifting and cascading grains
- Standalone and AUv3 compatible

GRDelay - Granular Random Delay Plugin (AUv3) GRDelay is an audio effect plugin that can run standalone, or in any AU compatible host application such as Logic Pro or GarageBand. Overview - What's a Granular Random Delay? GRDelay is a randomised delay effect that uses a similar approach to granular synthesis to generate sound. In GRDelay, up to 16 "grains" of stereo sound are created in realtime from delayed copies of the input audio, with control over the grain shape and delay time. There are also options to pitch-shift grains up an octave, and cascade the output from one grain into another. Shape, delay time and pitch-shifting can all be randomised to create some really unusual effects and textures. While GRDelay can produce sounds similar to existing pitch-shifted delays and even shimmer effects, the design is totally original, and to the best of my knowledge, quite sonically unique. I think GRDelay is really one of those effects you need to hear to believe, so please do check out the reviews and demos online. Please note, because there's a "whole lot of random going on" in GRDelay, it's not a good choice if you want a delay that can do tempo / clock-sync'd rhythmic delays. Perhaps take a look at PolyDelay which offers tempo sync to host and musical note length delay times. For more info and support please visit: www.waverley-instruments.com/robjackson

Verdict
Echo Pitch and GRDelay both sit at 4.9 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of GRDelay's written reviews are positive against 68% of Echo Pitch's. GRDelay also leads on price ($1.99 vs $4.99) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.6). Echo Pitch's advantage is ratings volume (16 vs 3). On rating, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Echo Pitch costs $4.99 and GRDelay $1.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Echo Pitch against 5.0 for GRDelay. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Echo Pitch has 16 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 68% of Echo Pitch's written reviews are positive against 100% of GRDelay's.
