The Lissajous is simple: x - the tone being played y - the nearest tone to what you are playing. It plots x/y and you get the Lissajous. The second kind is more traditionally similar to a strobe tuner. It is more complex under the hood. Both are simple and effective. They are exactly the information you need at a glance without having to think about anything. You can see immediately whether or not you are getting closer or further from being in tune. You don't need to be able to read. You don't need to know how it works. Its as intuitive as it gets, you'll know right away once you use it without ever being told how to use it.

Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Yr Tuner at 5.0 against GradientDaze's 3.2. GradientDaze's advantage is ratings volume (6 vs 1) and iOS requirement (10.0 vs 17.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Yr Tuner holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: GradientDaze has 6 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.
