Audio Slice Machine Slice your audio samples with ReSlice and create flexible musical atoms which can be triggered by MIDI notes or the touch of your fingers. The polyrhythm Arpeggiator redefines the art of creating new loops from the extracted slices. Record live or import audio from clipboard or AudioShare to break it up into its rhythmic components. Apply the intelligent slice parameter and Arpeggio randomizer for instant creation of the unheard. “Always creative - always cutting edge. The team at VirSyn has a steady stream of cool apps that they release. They are always pushing iOS music creation possibilities to new and interesting territory! It's a really fun to be able to quickly slice up sound and shift the slices around like this. I love the randomization features as well. With the touch of the dice one can create really surprising and interesting sonic experiences. Jordan Rudess Wizdom Music/Dream Theater” Features: Audio Slicer • Automatic break up of sample/drum loop into up to 32 slices • Edit slice positions. • Edit level, pan, pitch and envelope for each slice • Play slices on screen or via MIDI • Three choke groups available to cut sample play • Import audio from clipboard or AudioShare • Record audio for instant slicing and reusing in realtime Effect section • Seven studio standard effects concurrently usable: • Oversampled distortion with four different algorithms for antialiased sound. • Lowpass / Highpass / Bandpass parametric equalizer • 8 pole analog Phaser • Flanger • Four line chorus • Stereo/Ping-Pong delay with glitch free delay time change. • Hi end reverberation unit. Autony
This app generates evolving musical sequences using a MIDI signal. It can be constrained to scales and chords, transposed, and mutated for dynamic musical output. All controls are MIDI-automatable and it requires a host app to function.
- Generates evolving musical sequences
- MIDI output for synths and hardware
- Constrain sequences to scales and chords
- On-the-fly transposition
- Sequence mutation for dynamic evolution
- MIDI automation of all controls

AUv3 Midi sequence generator which generates musical evolving sequences that you can further automate or modulate via midi. A clever algorithm creates a musical sequence which is output as a midi signal which can be used to drive a software synthesiser or a hardware device. Various settings allow the sequence to be constrained to scales and chords, transposed on the fly and also allowed to gently mutate giving an evolving sequence. All the controls can be modulated or automated via midi. Needs a AU host like AUM and generates no sound on its own. "My solution has been to make the equipment unreliable in various ways." - Brian Eno

Verdict
The clearest difference is update cadence: Autony at every 5 days against ReSlice's every 5 weeks. Autony also leads on price ($3.99 vs $7.99) and rating (4.5 vs 4.3). ReSlice's advantage is review sentiment (72% vs 61%) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.6). On ratings volume, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

ReSlice costs $7.99 and Autony $3.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Autony holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 27 and 39 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 72% of ReSlice's written reviews are positive against 61% of Autony's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
ReSlice ships an update every 5 weeks, Autony every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
