Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: WNBL at 4.9 against Watch AFL's 2.3. WNBL also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 4 months) and review sentiment (30% vs 10%). Watch AFL's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
WNBL holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 2.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Watch AFL has 88 ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 10% of Watch AFL's written reviews are positive against 30% of WNBL's.
Watch AFL ships an update every 4 months, WNBL every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
