Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: First Camera at 63% against SkyCamera's 29%. First Camera also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 7 months). SkyCamera's advantage is rating (4.7 vs 4.4) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.0). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. First Camera sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and SkyCamera sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
SkyCamera holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 13 and 15 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 63% of First Camera's written reviews are positive against 29% of SkyCamera's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
First Camera ships an update monthly, SkyCamera every 7 months. Both last shipped on October 15, 2026.
