Teacher Meter Not every teacher explains or grades the same way. Teacher Meter shows you how much that changes the class. Students anonymously rate how hard a class actually is under a specific teacher. So before you pick next year's schedule, you can see what you're walking into: how difficult the work really is, how many hours a week it takes, and what grades people came out with. Rate and compare. Anonymous difficulty ratings, broken down by teacher and by class. See your real grades. Sign in with StudentVUE to pull your live gradebook. Try what-if scores to work out exactly what you need on the final. Those edits stay on your phone and never touch your teacher's records. Plan your year. A rigor score for the schedule you're building, based on what students reported about those exact classes. Find your classmates. Add your schedule and land in a chat for each of your classes. Your grades and your password never leave your device. Ratings are pooled and anonymous, so nothing links one back to you. For Amador Valley and Foothill High School students. Not affiliated with Edupoint, StudentVUE, Synergy, or Pleasanton Unified School District.

Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Teacher Meter at 100% against Next Lecture's 60%. Teacher Meter also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 3) and iOS requirement (15.5 vs 17). Next Lecture's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 4.3) and ratings volume (218 vs 20). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Next Lecture sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Teacher Meter asks for nothing beyond the download.
Next Lecture holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Next Lecture has 218 ratings behind it against 20, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 60% of Next Lecture's written reviews are positive against 100% of Teacher Meter's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Next Lecture ships an update fortnightly, Teacher Meter weekly. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
