Many children, adolescents, and adults struggle to eliminate speech errors affecting the American English 'r' sound. Research suggests that these errors can in some cases be eliminated through biofeedback, where learners view a dynamic visual image of their speech and attempt to match a target representing correct production. staRt ("Speech Therapist's App for /r/ Treatment") aims to make biofeedback treatment for /r/ widely accessible to practicing speech-language pathologists. Features: - Tutorial explaining how to interpret and use the biofeedback display - "Free play" mode where users match their real-time visual-acoustic display to a target representing correct production of ‘r’ - "Quest" mode presenting syllables/words for 'r' practice; complexity increases or decreases in an adaptive fashion based on recent performance - "Quiz" mode for use in measuring baseline performance and tracking progress - Visual rewards reinforcing improvements in performance - Clinician dashboard tracking progress over the course of treatment

Is your child learning to read? Most kids are taught to sound out words in a choppy way. s… u… n. Pause. Pause. Pause. By the time they reach the last sound, they've already forgotten the first one. Score 4 Phonics teaches phonics through continuous blending. Instead of choppy sounding out: s – u – n We teach: ssssuuunnn No pauses. Sounds flow together until the word clicks. Research supports continuous blending as an effective way to make decoding easier. Score 4 Phonics is built around this method. Every single turn. No guessing. No memorizing. Just phonics. The foundational skill children need to become confident readers. HOW IT WORKS: Drag the blending slider to hear each letter sound blend together. Decode the word. Choose the matching picture. Get it right and place your piece on the board. First to get four in a row wins. It's a game. But every move is real reading practice. Created by a Speech-Language Pathologist - I created Score 4 Phonics after years of helping children learn to read through systematic phonics instruction. This app teaches the same decoding skills I use in therapy, grounded in research and real clinical experience. What your child will practice: - Short vowels (a, e, i, o, u) - Beginning and ending blends - Long vowel words (silent e) - Digraphs (sh, ch, th, ck) - Mixed levels for review and mastery GAME FEATURES: - Works offline after download. No internet required. - Single player vs. computer on Easy or Hard - Two player mode: compete together or use Parent/Teacher Mode where the adult plays the board while the child does all the decoding - Letter Sounds toggle: on for beginners, off for independent blenders - Stars track progress across every phonics level - 12 color choices so every child can personalize their piece PERFECT FOR: - Children ages 5-7 learning to read - Struggling readers who need real phonics practice - K-2 teachers and reading interventionists - Homeschool families - Parents who want screen time that actually builds skills Your child needs the right kind of reading practice to become a confident reader.
