Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: HoverBots at 3.1 against X's 2.3. HoverBots also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 12 months). X's advantage is ratings volume (443 vs 29) and review sentiment (10% vs 0%). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

HoverBots holds the better App Store score, 3.1 against 2.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: X has 443 ratings behind it against 29, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 10% of X's written reviews are positive against 0% of HoverBots's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

X ships an update every 12 months, HoverBots every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
