microCavity vs Wittgenstein
Price, ratings, monetisation and update history for both apps, side by side — with what reviewers say about each.
microCavity
Control a miniature sensing system wirelessly using your iPhone. This app allows you to view live data, make measurements, and capture screenshots from a photonic sensor. It integrates complex equipment into a phone-sized system for remote operation.
- Wireless control of sensing systems
- View live transmission spectrum
- Perform measurements
- Capture instrument screenshots

Microcavity is used to control the whispering-gallery-mode (WGM) microresonators based miniature sensing system wirelessly. As the photonic sensor of this system, WGM resonators have features of ultra-high quality (Q) factors and small mode volumes, which have found broad applications in photonics, such as cavity quantum electrodynamics, optomechanics, bio/chemical sensors , nonlinear optics, microlasers and non-Hermitian optics. In order to explore the potential applications in Internet of things for WGM resonators, a wireless WGM sensing system is developed, which not only integrates bulky equipment into a phone-sized embedded system, but also achieves the functionality of remote control by iPhone. This app enables you to view live transmission spectrum of WGM sensor, make measurements, and capture instruments screenshots from your iPhone.
Wittgenstein
Read full descriptionHide full description
A slow, careful encounter with Wittgenstein's Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus. Each proposition appears as a fill-in-the-blank — one word missing, two options to choose from. You read carefully, weigh each word, and feel why Wittgenstein chose this one. The Tractatus, from "The world is everything that is the case" to the closing silence. Faithful to the Ogden translation. Five propositions per day are free. A one-time purchase unlocks the book — yours forever. No ads. No tracking. Fully offline.

Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: microCavity at none against Wittgenstein's 1. microCavity also leads on iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.6). Wittgenstein's advantage is update cadence (every 8 months vs every 34 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.
