BirdGuides vs HOLISTICON

Whether you're the keenest of twitchers, a local birdwatcher or someone with a passing interest in what birds are being seen near you, the newly updated BirdGuides app gives you all the information you need – and plenty more besides. Major new features include: • New and improved design – delivering sightings to you in sleek format, with reports now colour-coded by rarity and individual sighting details with added map view; • Enhanced BirdMap – view all sightings on an interactive full-screen map, either for the current day or any past date; • Quickly filter sightings by rarity level on both list and map view; • Sophisticated search function – you can now explore our entire sightings database, stretching back to November 2000, on a map as well as in list format; • A wider range of notification sound options are now available. Using the BirdGuides app, you can: • View all sightings from today or any previous date in order to help you see great birds; • Submit your sightings quickly and accurately from the field with our submissions form – all sightings are proudly shared with BirdTrack; • Update and create Filters within the app to get notified about the species you want to see. Each sighting can be expanded to give full location details and further information, such as time seen, number of birds, detailed directions and parking instructions. A single click will load the best route to the bird in your map provider. Birding has never been so easy!

HOLISTICON is Ireland's new mind, body and soul event series, and this is its app. Explore who is exhibiting and what is on: healers, therapists, makers and teachers, with photos, descriptions and links, and a programme of talks, workshops and sound journeys. Tap the heart on the stalls you want to visit and the sessions you want to catch, and they gather under My Day, with a timeline for the day and a list to tick off as you go. Share a practitioner or a session with a friend, or add a session to your calendar. The HOLISTICON Badge lives here too. Buy it once on the website, and every stall in the hall honours a benefit for you: a discount, a small gift, or both. Scan the stall's code or type it in, confirm, and it is claimed, even with no signal in the hall. What you have shared with each stall is yours to switch off at any time. Every morning and evening the daily ritual offers an affirmation or a gratitude to keep, and the whispering well shares a line from the teachers whenever you want one. The app follows the sky where you are: a bright solar look by day, a cosmic look after dusk, and a glass slider to set how much of the sky shows through. Turn on notifications for event news and changes to the sessions you are attending, add a Face ID lock if you like, and keep the app upright or let it turn with your phone. Your account is the same as on holisticon.ie, so your Badge, favourites and plan are the same everywhere. Browsing needs no account at all. Next event: HOLISTICON Carlow, Talbot Hotel Carlow, Sunday 27 September 2026. Free entry. Questions: holiapp@regurk.ie
