Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Card Talk at 268 against CardTalk's 7. Card Talk also leads on rating (4.5 vs 4.3) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs monthly). CardTalk's advantage is review sentiment (86% vs 68%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Card Talk holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Card Talk has 268 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 68% of Card Talk's written reviews are positive against 86% of CardTalk's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Card Talk ships an update every 2 weeks, CardTalk monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
