Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: USMLE at 4.7 against TeamSTEPPS 3.0's 3.2. USMLE also leads on update cadence (every 6 weeks vs every 41 months) and ratings volume (5K vs 10). TeamSTEPPS 3.0's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 1) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. USMLE sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $49.99 per month. TeamSTEPPS 3.0 asks for nothing beyond the download.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

USMLE holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: USMLE has 5K ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 49% of USMLE's written reviews are positive against 50% of TeamSTEPPS 3.0's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

USMLE ships an update every 6 weeks, TeamSTEPPS 3.0 every 41 months. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
