Place ramps, gears, magnets, balloons and rockets, press Play and watch every piece set off the next one. Contraptix is a physics puzzle game where every level is an unfinished machine: you add the missing parts and real physics decides whether it works. 300 LEVELS ACROSS 75 STAGES Start with simple chain reactions and finish with huge machines full of belts, pulleys, pipes, switches and timers. Every stage introduces a new part. A THOUSAND WAYS TO SOLVE IT There's no single answer. There's always a spare part on purpose: choosing well is part of the puzzle. Use few parts and be quick to earn all three stars. PARTS WITH PERSONALITY Bouncing balls, gears passing on their spin, fans, scissors that cut ropes, boxing gloves, light bulbs, cannons, trampolines and a mouse running in its wheel. Plus lasers and mirrors, portals, springs, electromagnets, dynamite and upside-down gravity zones. DAILY CHALLENGE A new puzzle every day. Fewest parts wins; on a tie, the fastest. Compete on the world and country leaderboards. FREE MODE Build whatever you like with every part you've discovered. COMMUNITY Build your own maps in Free mode, remove some parts and publish them as a challenge. Play other players' maps, rate them and climb the community and creator leaderboards. ACHIEVEMENTS Unlock achievements and compete on the Game Center leaderboard. PLAY YOUR WAY No sign-up, plays offline. Link Google or Apple whenever you like and your progress follows you to any phone. Available in 9 languages. Contraptix is free, with ads and optional in-app purchases (coins for hints and removing ads).

Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Piece Out at 4.6 against Contraptix's 4.0. Piece Out also leads on ratings volume (1.3K vs 2) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). Contraptix's advantage is update cadence (every 9 days vs every 5 weeks). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Piece Out sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Contraptix sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Piece Out holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Piece Out has 1.3K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.
Piece Out ships an update every 5 weeks, Contraptix every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 6, 2026 respectively.
