Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is ads: Pokémon Quest at none against Cheapshot's shown. Pokémon Quest also leads on ratings volume (19K vs 482). Cheapshot's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 6 months). On price, rating, review sentiment and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS

CostPrice · In-app purchases · Ads · Monetization

Both are free to download. Cheapshot sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and Pokémon Quest sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Cheapshot holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pokémon Quest has 19K ratings behind it against 482, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 74% of Cheapshot's written reviews are positive against 75% of Pokémon Quest's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Cheapshot ships an update every 2 weeks, Pokémon Quest every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 6, 2026 respectively.
