Simply, select the total number of questions and the total time. The application calculates the amount of time per question. Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Macmillan Learning eBook at 4.3 against Exam Timer's 3.3. Macmillan Learning eBook also leads on ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (2.2K vs 4). Exam Timer's advantage is review sentiment (25% vs 11%) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.6). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Macmillan Learning eBook holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Macmillan Learning eBook has 2.2K ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 11% of Macmillan Learning eBook's written reviews are positive against 25% of Exam Timer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Macmillan Learning eBook ships an update every 3 months, Exam Timer every 11 months. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
