Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: HangClimb Timer at none against Crimpd's 3. HangClimb Timer also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). Crimpd's advantage is update cadence (every 9 days vs every 5 months). On price, rating, review sentiment and ratings volume there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Crimpd sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per month. HangClimb Timer asks for nothing beyond the download.
HangClimb Timer holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 100 and 284 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 83% of Crimpd's written reviews are positive against 82% of HangClimb Timer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Crimpd ships an update every 9 days, HangClimb Timer every 5 months. Both last shipped on October 12, 2026.
