Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: 12climb at none against Crimpd's 3. 12climb also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.6) and iOS requirement (12.4 vs 15.0). Crimpd's advantage is update cadence (every 9 days vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (100 vs 1). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Crimpd sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per month. 12climb asks for nothing beyond the download.
12climb holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Crimpd has 100 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 84% of Crimpd's written reviews are positive against 68% of 12climb's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Crimpd ships an update every 9 days, 12climb every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on September 21, 2026 and July 6, 2026 respectively.
