About

Point Load Test

This application facilitates point load testing for geotechnical analysis by connecting to a compatible device via Bluetooth. It automates specimen measurement, calculates test results, and allows for custom equation definitions for strength determination. It also supports Ultrasonic P-Wave Velocity measurements.

Highlights
  • Bluetooth connectivity to PLT device
  • Automated specimen measurement
  • Point load test result calculation
  • Customizable strength determination equations
  • Graphing of load vs. equivalent core diameter
  • Ultrasonic P-Wave Velocity measurement support

*NOTE: This is a new version of the PLT app. The old version will remain listed in the meantime but will be removed soon. The Point Load Test Application was designed to be used in conjunction with a GCTS PLT-2W. This application allows the user to easily perform tests and record data by connecting to a PLT device via Bluetooth. The device will output load and displacement from a pair of sensors, which will be read by the app and used to calculate point load test results. The app allows two-step calibrations of these readings, and also can obtain pre-loaded calibration factors from within the PLT-2W. Using this application, specimen measurements can be made with ease. By simply placing the specimen in the apparatus as shown in the application and applying a small load, the application will automatically calculate the dimension of the specimen in that axis. This app can be used with diametral, axial, or irregular specimens. In addition, the application can be set to reuse certain dimensions, so if a core sample is used, the application can be set to use the same diameter for each specimen tested. The operator can also define a custom equation for determination of the unconfined compressive strength from the point load strength index as calculated by the test. The application will automatically graph the load versus equivalent core diameter and automatically calculate the unconfined compressive strength for the rock specimen. This app also allows the measurement of Ultrasonic P-Wave Velocities when paired with a ULT-2 or ULT-200.

About

SimTunnel Lite

SimTunnel Lite is designed to perform a quick tunnel analysis on your phone device. SimTunnel Lite is very simple and easy to use. SimTunnel Lite uses "rock-support interaction" or "convergence-confinement" method to estimate the deformation of circular tunnels in weak rock, and visualizing the tunnel interaction with various support systems. SimTunnel Lite has the following features: - SimTunnel Lite determines Factor of Safety (FOS) as the ratio of maximum support pressure to the support pressure required for equilibrium. - The Tunnel and Rock Parameters dialog allows you to define the tunnel and rock properties for model. - The Strength Properties which are required will depend on the strength criteria you have selected in Setting Page. - Both Mohr-Coulomb and Hoek-Brown strength criteria are available. - The parameter calculator dialogs are available to help you to calculate some of the parameters (i.e. GSI, mi, D, UCS, insitu stress and etc). - The support parameters dialog allows you to easily add support (i.r. Rockbolt) and define the support properties for the model. - Rockbolt support type can be added to the model. - The ground reaction curve (GRC) is always displayed in the output page. - The brief summary of analysis results and input data will be displayed in the Output Page. - The report button, allows you to save the current model’s input and output information into PDF file. The generated report file can be sent out via email.
