Three ways to measure when you don't have a measuring tape or a ruler: 1 – AGAINST YOUR SCREEN Simple and precise for small measurements. 2 – IN AUGMENTED REALITY Place a virtual measuring tape on a vertical or horizontal surface, such as a wall, table or floor. Built with ARKit. 3 – USING AIRPRINT Print a ruler! Accuracy depends on the printer, so check the result against the on-screen ruler. Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: EC Ruler at 100% against Ruler / Measuring Tape's 51%. EC Ruler also leads on update cadence (every 2 months vs every 4 months) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 16.0). Ruler / Measuring Tape's advantage is rating (4.4 vs 4.0) and ratings volume (238 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Ruler / Measuring Tape holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Ruler / Measuring Tape has 238 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 51% of Ruler / Measuring Tape's written reviews are positive against 100% of EC Ruler's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Ruler / Measuring Tape ships an update every 4 months, EC Ruler every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
