Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Cello Tuner Basic at 4.3 against Cello Tuner's 3.8. Cello Tuner Basic also leads on ratings volume (215 vs 17) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs monthly). Cello Tuner's advantage is review sentiment (59% vs 36%) and iOS requirement (12.1 vs 15.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Cello Tuner sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Cello Tuner Basic sells 5 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Cello Tuner Basic holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Cello Tuner Basic has 215 ratings behind it against 17, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 59% of Cello Tuner's written reviews are positive against 36% of Cello Tuner Basic's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Cello Tuner ships an update monthly, Cello Tuner Basic every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 28, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
