World Athletics recommends the use of video support for judging horizontal jumps at all competition levels – amendment to Technical Rule 29 of the International Competition Regulations. The systems offered by professional manufacturers are not available at levels below national championships – and even there, sometimes not at all. The app has already proven its worth at the German Combined Events Championships and has become the standard at the Lower Saxony State Championships. With the camera function, the recording device (recommended: Apple iPhone) can be optimally positioned next to the takeoff board. The evaluation device (recommended: Apple iPhone or, even better, iPad) can be placed, for example, with the scorekeeper or near the official. The devices detect and connect effortlessly – Wi-Fi is not required. The evaluation device can connect to multiple cameras (alternately) (e.g., during the triple jump).
