The clearest difference is rating: Device Detector at 4.4 against HawkEyes's 3.3. Device Detector also leads on ratings volume (3.6K vs 3) and update cadence (monthly vs every 2 months). HawkEyes's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (67% vs 49%). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Device Detector holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Device Detector has 3.6K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of HawkEyes's written reviews are positive against 49% of Device Detector's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
HawkEyes ships an update every 2 months, Device Detector monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
