Verdict
The clearest difference is ratings volume: Beat Maker at 1.8K against DP8's 82. DP8's advantage is review sentiment (50% vs 39%). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. DP8 sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Beat Maker sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.4 for DP8 against 4.5 for Beat Maker. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Beat Maker has 1.8K ratings behind it against 82, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 50% of DP8's written reviews are positive against 39% of Beat Maker's.
DP8 ships an update every 2 months, Beat Maker monthly. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
