Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: TARTE at 100% against DateCam's 49%. TARTE also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). DateCam's advantage is update cadence (every 4 days vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (18 vs 1). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. DateCam sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and TARTE sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
TARTE holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DateCam has 18 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 49% of DateCam's written reviews are positive against 100% of TARTE's.
DateCam ships an update every 4 days, TARTE every 2 months. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
