Both are free to download. Mental Math sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Maths A Day asks for nothing beyond the download.
Maths A Day holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Maths A Day has 29 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 90% of Maths A Day's written reviews are positive against 100% of Mental Math's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Maths A Day ships an update fortnightly, Mental Math every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 25, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
