Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Chap'nGo at none against Mapspot's 10. Chap'nGo also leads on device support (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 16.4). Mapspot's advantage is update cadence (every 4 days vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (51 vs 7). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Mapspot sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Chap'nGo asks for nothing beyond the download.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Chap'nGo against 4.9 for Mapspot. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mapspot has 51 ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.
Chap'nGo ships an update every 2 months, Mapspot every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
