Advanced Space Flight is a realistic space simulator for interplanetary and interstellar travel. It is the only space simulator available that takes into account relativistic effects during interstellar flight. Besides simulating space flight this app can also be used as a planetarium, with all known planets shown in real scale with their accurate keplerian orbits. It can also be used as a star chart and exoplanet explorer, showing all solar systems with confirmed exoplanets within 50 light years from the Sun. This is the only app where you can get a sense of the true scale of the Universe, zooming out throught thousands of galaxies and galaxy clusters until you see the entire observable universe in your screen. Locations: - All Solar System planets plus 5 dwarf planets and 27 moons - All confirmed exoplanetary solar systems within 50 light years from the Sun, making a total of over 100+ exoplanets. - Over 50+ stars, including main sequence stars like the Sun, red dwarfs like TRAPPIST-1, white dwarfs like Sirius B, brown dwarfs like 54 Piscium B, etc. - Experience the full scale of the Universe: you can zoom out from a few meters to billions of light years, until you see the entire observable universe in your screen. Flight Modes: - Realistic Flight: Travel using optimized trajectories, calculated based on the orbital parameters of the origin and destination planets to minimize fuel usage. These are the kind of trajectories that would be used in a real space mission. - Free Flight: Take manual control of a spaceship in space, activating the engines as you see fit to achieve your goals. Spaceships: Advanced Space Flight features several spacecraft, based on present and future technology: - Space Shuttle (Chemical Rocket): Designed in 1968-1972 by NASA and North American Rockwell. It has been in service from 1981 to 2011, making it the most successful reusable spacecraft ever built. - Falcon Heavy (Chemical Rocket): Designed and manufactured by SpaceX, made its first flight in 2018. - Nuclear Ferry (Nuclear Thermal Rocket): Designed in 1964 by Ling-Temco-Vought Inc. - Lewis Ion Rocket (Ion Drive): Designed in a 1965 study by the Lewis Research Center. - Project Orion (Nuclear Pulse Propulsion): Designed in 1957-1961 by General Atomics. Some early prototypes were built before the project was abandoned after 1963. - Project Daedalus (Fusion Rocket): Designed in 1973-1978 by the British Interplanetary Society. - Antimatter Startship (Antimatter Rocket): First proposed in the early 1950s, the concept was further studied after advances in antimatter physics in the 80s and 90s. - Bussard Ramjet (Fusion Ramjet): First proposed in 1960 by Robert W. Bussard, design was improved in 1989 by Robert Zubrin and Dana Andrews. - IXS Enterprise (Alcubierre Warp Drive): Based on a concept design fom NASA designed in 2008 and popularized in 2015, it was the first serious attempt to design a superluminal spacecraft. Artificial Satellites: Several human-made satellites are present in the app: - Sputnik 1 - Hubble Space Telecope - Internation Space Station - Kepler Space Observatory - Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) - James Webb Space Telescope Effects: - Atmospheric light scattering effects, making atmospheres look realistic both from space and from the surface of planets. - Planetary clouds that move at different speed than the surface. - Clouds in tidal-locked planets form giant hurricanes, caused by the Coriolis force. - Stars with volumetric corona and lens flares. Star color determined by surface temperature. - Planetary rings with realistic light scattering and real-time shadows from the planet. - Realtivistic effects when travelling close to the speed of light: time dilation, length contraction and relativistic doppler effect. November 1941. The Strait of Gibraltar. You command a Type VIIC U-boat: 67 metres of steel, four bow tubes and one at the stern. On the horizon, smoke from a convoy: five freighters and a tanker, guarded by a destroyer and two corvettes. Your mission: sink as much tonnage as you can and make it home alive. UBOOTSIM is a World War II submarine simulator made to be enjoyed at your own pace. Every attack is a small game of chess between you, the convoy and its escorts. HUNT - Attack periscope and bridge binoculars, with 1.5× to 6× zoom, a bearing scale and an automatic 360° sweep. - A living daylight sea: swell, whitecaps, clouds, sun glitter and funnel smoke that gives the convoy away long before its hulls. - Hydrophone to hear propellers while submerged: slow, heavy merchants and fast escorts. An audible alarm sounds for every new contact. - Tactical chart of the Strait with its coastline, grid, bearing ring, contacts and wakes. Tap a point and the helm and periscope turn towards it. STRIKE - Lock the target, take bearing and range marks and let the Torpedo Data Computer (TDC) find the solution. When the button turns green: fire! - Fine-tune the target's range, course and speed by hand, or switch on the automatic TDC for a more relaxed game. - Spreads of 1, 2 or 4 torpedoes, a stern tube and real-time reloading, one tube at a time. - Follow every torpedo with its wake, its countdown and a tracking window that zooms in for the last seconds. And, just as in 1941, some pistols fail. - On the surface, the 8.8 cm deck gun: tap the ship, wait for the green ring and fire. The crew corrects their aim with every hit. SURVIVE - After the first hit the convoy raises the alarm, turns and speeds up, and the escorts come after you with ASDIC and depth charges. - Go below the thermal layer, run silent, change course after every pass and keep an eye on your hull and battery. - Underwater side view: your U-boat angled as it dives, enemy hulls above you with the metres beneath their keels, and depth charges falling and bursting all around. - While you run on the surface a patrol aircraft may appear. If it spots you, it attacks and radios the destroyer. Dive in time… or shoot it down with the deck gun. A SUBMARINE YOU CAN FEEL - Diving depends on your speed: at full ahead the boat dips its bow and goes down at an angle; stopped, it barely sinks. - Alarm bell and the call of "Dive! Dive!" as you submerge, and "Surface! Surface!" as you come up. - Diesels rumbling on the surface and electric motors humming underwater, higher-pitched the faster you go. - The blast of compressed air at launch, the whistle of running torpedoes, explosions, ASDIC pings against the hull and depth charges that grow louder the closer they burst. SHIPS WITH CHARACTER - Freighters from different shipping lines, with coloured funnels, lifeboats and cargo derricks. - A long, low tanker: the big prize. - A fast, camouflaged destroyer with four guns, and two corvettes that never stop circling the convoy. - The more you zoom, the more you see: windows, flags, pennant numbers on the bow and fires when you hit them. FOR EVERY COMMANDER - Time compression from 1× to 32×, dropping back to 1× automatically at any danger. - "Show all ships" mode to learn the game. - Built-in quick guide in English and Spanish. - Scalable display: stretched to fill the window or proportional, as you prefer. - For iPhone, iPad and Mac, with a native Mac version and keyboard controls. Ship names are fictional. UBOOTSIM is a game: it simplifies reality to make it playable, while staying true to how war at sea was fought in 1941. Good hunting, Commander!

Verdict
The clearest difference is price: UBOOTSIM at Free against Advanced Space Flight's $4.99. UBOOTSIM also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.3) and update cadence (every 4 days vs every 4 months). Advanced Space Flight's advantage is ratings volume (40 vs 2) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.0). On ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
