Glean vs Fridge Buzzer

Glean is a food sharing app that allows users to give away free food to people in their community, while also allowing other users (ex.grocery markets and farmers) to sell any excess food that otherwise would have been thrown in the trash at discounted rates. To give away free food, users simply post their food item as a "Glean" in the app and are notified once another user requests their item. Both individuals are given the others' contact information to establish pick up locations and times. To sell discounted food, users have the option to use the Glean marketplace tab to sell their goods that otherwise would have ended up in a landfill. Once a marketplace Glean has been posted, other users can purchase those items and coordinate pick up locations and times. As a Gleaner you can do your part in preventing global hunger, water scarcity and global warming all with just a few simple clicks in the app. You will be reducing your carbon footprint all while helping others in your community!

Sometimes we forget about some can of food we bought and it ended up in the back of the fridge only to be detected after expiry date. To reduce food wastage as part of the green initiative this app will keep track of your food and notify you before it expires so you still have a chance to consume it. You may mark an item as consumed by sliding to the left and clicking the green leaf, or if you just want to remove it without giving any details use the red bin.
