Soundtrack records your runs and the music that powered them — together. Start a run and your Apple Music library (or any playlist you pick) starts with you. As you move, Soundtrack draws your route in the colors of the songs you heard: every stretch of road remembers its track. When you're done, scrub back through the map to any moment — and the song you heard right there starts playing. ONE RUN AT A TIME • Choose an easy run, steady run or timed intervals • Set a time or distance goal, with an optional pace • Music follows your workout without a training schedule TRAIN WITH A PLAN • Plans for 5K, 10K and half marathon, based on your current running • Warm-ups, easy runs, controlled intervals, recovery and a taper • Follow segment cues on iPhone and Apple Watch • Track completed workouts, move a run or skip a day BUILT FOR RUNNERS • Live pace, distance, heart rate, and calories. • Mile splits, a pace chart, and elevation gain on every run • Routes and workouts save to Apple Health BUILT AROUND YOUR MUSIC • Plays from your Apple Music library or a playlist you choose • Adaptive music chooses songs for your effort, pace and heart-rate trend • Music prepares for planned effort changes and can enter songs at matched timed passages • Song choices learn from early skips and listening history • A tracklist for every run — see exactly what you heard, and for how long SHARE THE RUN, KEEP THE FEELING • Every run gets a beautiful share page with your song-colored route, splits, and tracklist • You control visibility: link-only or private, per run Music playback requires an Apple Music subscription — without one (or without music permission), Soundtrack still records complete pace-only runs. Heart rate comes from a paired Apple Watch; no Watch needed for everything else.

Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: Soundtrack Run at none against The Training Lab's shown. Soundtrack Run also leads on update cadence (every 3 days vs every 4 months) and monetization model (free vs ad-supported). The Training Lab's advantage is ratings volume (52 vs 2) and iOS requirement (14.0 vs 26.0). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
