Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: GNews RSS at 100% against Wire's 29%. GNews RSS also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.4) and in-app purchases (none vs 4). Wire's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 16 months) and ratings volume (12 vs 1). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Wire sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. GNews RSS asks for nothing beyond the download.
GNews RSS holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Wire has 12 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 100% of GNews RSS's written reviews are positive against 29% of Wire's.
GNews RSS ships an update every 16 months, Wire fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
