Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: SynScan Pro at none against Photographers Light Table's 1. SynScan Pro also leads on ads (none vs shown) and rating (2.6 vs 2.3). Photographers Light Table's advantage is review sentiment (50% vs 22%) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

SynScan Pro holds the better App Store score, 2.6 against 2.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SynScan Pro has 51 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 22% of SynScan Pro's written reviews are positive against 50% of Photographers Light Table's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

SynScan Pro ships an update every 2 months, Photographers Light Table every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
