Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: BoxLine at 5.0 against Alien's 4.5. BoxLine also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 80%) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months). Alien's advantage is ratings volume (1.3K vs 3) and chart position (#210 vs unranked). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. BoxLine sells 5 one-off in-app purchases and Alien sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
BoxLine holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Alien has 1.3K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 100% of BoxLine's written reviews are positive against 80% of Alien's.
BoxLine ships an update every 2 weeks, Alien every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and November 7, 2026 respectively.
