Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Scanfig at 4.6 against SetMatch's 3.8. Scanfig also leads on ratings volume (377 vs 14). SetMatch's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 3 months) and review sentiment (73% vs 58%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Scanfig holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Scanfig has 377 ratings behind it against 14, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 73% of SetMatch's written reviews are positive against 58% of Scanfig's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
SetMatch ships an update weekly, Scanfig every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
