The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Spot the difference~ at none against Word Connection's 4. Spot the difference~ also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 15 months) and rating (4.6 vs 4.4). Word Connection's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (87% vs 69%). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Word Connection sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Spot the difference~ asks for nothing beyond the download.
Spot the difference~ holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Spot the difference~ has 6.3K ratings behind it against 436, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 87% of Word Connection's written reviews are positive against 69% of Spot the difference~'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Word Connection ships an update every 15 months, Spot the difference~ every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on November 2, 2026.
