Verdict
The clearest difference is update cadence: Chain 3! at every 10 days against Book's every 2 months. Chain 3! also leads on ratings volume (3.7K vs 272) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.0). Book's advantage is review sentiment (69% vs 54%). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Book sells 7 one-off in-app purchases and Chain 3! sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Chain 3! holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Chain 3! has 3.7K ratings behind it against 272, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 69% of Book's written reviews are positive against 54% of Chain 3!'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Book ships an update every 2 months, Chain 3! every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
