Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: Glitterr at none against Flakes's shown. Glitterr also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (2.2K vs 169). Flakes's advantage is iOS requirement (14.0 vs 17.6). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Flakes sells 9 one-off in-app purchases and Glitterr sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for Flakes against 4.6 for Glitterr. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Glitterr has 2.2K ratings behind it against 169, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 39% of Flakes's written reviews are positive against 52% of Glitterr's.
Flakes ships an update every 2 months, Glitterr weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
