About

BreakFinder

Features

BreakFinder SUP turns your Apple Watch into a fully automatic stand-up paddle surf tracker. Wave count, top speed, distance, ride time, GPS, and heart rate — logged without a single button press. BUILT FOR SUP, NOT PRONE SURF Generic surf trackers are tuned for the prone pop-up. SUP is different. BreakFinder SUP reads the actual biomechanical signature of a SUP wave catch: the paddle-cadence sprint, the silence event as the board planes, and the GPS speed derivative on the drop-in. A purpose-built four-state algorithm — WAITING, PADDLING, CATCHING, RIDING — only logs a wave when all three signals agree. The detector is developed from motion-science research and runs identically on every BreakFinder platform. WHAT GETS LOGGED PER SESSION • Automatic wave count — no buttons mid-session • Per-ride top speed, duration, and distance • GPS speed fusion with derivative gating against current drift • Heart rate, calories, and activity zones • Live state badge (WAIT / PADDLE / CATCH / RIDE) on the activity screen THREE SENSITIVITY MODES White Water, Green Wave, or Performance. Dial detection to your local break and paddling style. RUNS ON YOUR APPLE WATCH The full detection pipeline runs on-device, standalone — no phone needed in the water. One free BreakFinder account keeps your history. YOUR SUP SESSION LOG, ON YOUR PHONE Sessions sync automatically to the BreakFinder iPhone app — mapped, rated, and ready to replay. Wave count, top speed, GPS track, and session time at a glance. Your complete SUP history in one place. SURF FORECASTS FOR 9,200+ SPOTS Check swell, wind, and tides before you paddle out. 9,200+ breaks in 140+ countries, 16-day forecasts. WORKS OFFLINE Detection runs entirely on the watch. No phone connection needed during your session. Syncs when you're back in range. PRIVACY FIRST No tracking, no ad cookies. GDPR/DSGVO compliant. Delete your account anytime. Built by surfers, for surfers. breakfinder.surf
