Originally written in 1706, Matthew Henry’s commentary was one of the most exhaustive studies of the Bible verse by verse and is very useful for your personal study on the Word of God. The Word of God is an important part of our daily walk as followers of the Lord Jesus Christ. And reading it daily is for the transformation and renewal of strength of your body, soul and spirit protecting you against the works of the devil and of the flesh. The Word of God is a fountain of life, full of God’s promises to all His children. It serves as our hope, our light and our daily communication to the Father. And in the light of reading and studying the Word of God, there are aids to help you understand the Bible better such as Bible commentaries from other theologians. A Bible commentary is written by a commentator in a series of notes which explains the meaning of passages of Scripture and or its historical context that may reflect the beliefs and perspective of the writer. And Matthew Henry was one of the commentators who did exhaustive look at the Bible verse per verse. Matthew Henry wrote that the Word of God “convinces powerfully, converts powerfully and comforts powerfully. It makes a soul that has long been proud to be humble; and a perverse spirit to be meek and obedient. Sinful habits that are become as it were natural to the soul, and rooted deeply in it are separated and cut off by this sword. It will discover to men their thoughts and purposes, the vileness of many, the bad principles they are moved by, the sinful ends act to.” Download Matthew Henry Bible Commentary app now and enjoy a deeper study, reflection, and meditation of God’s Word for a deeper communication and fellowship with Holy Spirit.
