Whose Land is a web-based app that uses GIS technology to assist users in identifying Indigenous Nations, territories, and Indigenous communities across Canada. The app can be used for learning about the territory your home or business is situated on, finding information for a land acknowledgement, and learning about the treaties and agreements signed across Canada. Educational videos are available to watch that will give you a better understanding of why land acknowledgements are important, and the way Indigenous people view their relationship to land. The Whose Land app is a collaboration between Canadian Roots Exchange, TakingITGlobal, and Bold Realities. The app consists of six different maps of Indigenous territories, Treaties, and First Nations, Inuit, and Metis communities. Each community's location will eventually host a land acknowledgement video, and other information that the community would like to include on their page. The app will be used as an educational tool to create dialogue around reconciliation. It will be a starting point for conversation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous citizens across this country about land, territorial recognition and land acknowledgement.

Meewasin is a non-profit organization that exists to ensure a healthy and vibrant river valley, with a balance between human use and conservation, for the benefit of present and future generations, in Saskatoon & area. This is accomplished by providing leadership in the management of its resources, promoting understanding of conservation and beneficial use of the Valley, and undertaking programs and projects in river valley development and conservation - all for the benefit of present and future generations. In the Meewasin Valley, there are 67 square kilometers of land and over 90km of established trail, which has seen up to 1.87 million trail visits per year. The area also features sites managed by Meewasin that help people connect to nature such as Beaver Creek Conservation Area, the Northeast Swale, Saskatoon Natural Grasslands, the River Landing Spray Area, and the Cameco Meewasin Skating Rink at Nutrien Plaza. Created in 1979 by an Act of the Government of Saskatchewan, it is guided by The Meewasin Valley Authority Act, it is the means by which the three participating parties (City of Saskatoon, Government of Saskatchewan, and University of Saskatchewan) have chosen to best manage the Meewasin Valley in the South Saskatchewan River Basin. The creation of Meewasin is based on the concept that the partners working together through a single agency – Meewasin – can accomplish more than they could individually. The Meewasin App is currently featuring Indigenous Connections to the Northeast Swale with content that was made possible thanks to Western Economic Diversification Canadian Experiences Fund. Meewasin actively stewards the 6,700 hectares of the Meewasin Valley through an integrated resource management program to improve the health of these ecosystems. As a non-profit organization, Meewasin relies on donations and volunteers for sustainability. Get the app today to learn about the valley, get involved in volunteer and community events, and connect to the rich culture of the Meewasin Valley.
