Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: My Microphone at 4.2 against Simple Microphone's 2.8. My Microphone also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 15 months) and ratings volume (1.7K vs 15). Simple Microphone's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 13) and review sentiment (33% vs 12%). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. My Microphone sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. Simple Microphone asks for nothing beyond the download.
My Microphone holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 2.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: My Microphone has 1.7K ratings behind it against 15, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 12% of My Microphone's written reviews are positive against 33% of Simple Microphone's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
My Microphone ships an update every 3 weeks, Simple Microphone every 15 months. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
