A personal soundtrack for public transport in Manchester by Fritz von Runte TRAMBIENT is an app that plays music synchronised to the Manchester tram. The music is written and produced by Fritz von Runte, local artist, and the stations it currently syncs to are between Manchester and Bury. In 2021, after calling South Manchester his home since the 1990s, Fritz von Runte moved to Bury. But his friends, barber, dry cleaning and favourite record stores didn't move with him, so he has been using the Metrolink a lot. Since then, Fritz has been making ambient music inspired by and for the Manchester Tram — specifically for the Journey from Bury to Manchester and back. This new music isn’t coming out as an album or a record, but as an app. This app will be a companion for the commuter of the green and yellow lines, easing in the journey to the vibrant city of Manchester from the leafy suburb of Bury, and calming down the journey back. The listening experience will always change too as it’s not a ‘static’ record. It isn’t an album either. But a collection of music, changing itself on every play, automatically synched to the stations in the journey. Embark on a soundscape that's always evolving.
